GradSWE Intersection of Math and Art Lunch
Tuesday, February 14th | 12-1PM | 143 Mechanical Engineering Building
Mathematicians describe elegant solutions as “beautiful,” while beautiful art is often grounded in mathematics. Come and learn how both students and professors at UIUC combine their love of mathematics and art. Learn how the music industry uses a digital signal processing algorithm to correct pitch in real-time from Ben Villalonga, hear how crochet and simple stitch patterns can help topologists visualize hyperbolic space from Dot Silverman, and discover how Dr. Smitha Vishveshwara is breaking down barriers in her class “Where the Arts Meet Physics.” Please sign up here if you plan to attend.
